PARTIAL SERVICE UPGRADE, BURRILLVILLE, RI - Jan 2013
This customer was concerned about the point of attachment from the National Grid entrance wires. As you can see, they were very low and could be touched from the front porch. Also, he had a 2 space meter and only needed 1. We replaced the meter socket, brought it up to code with ground rods, replaced the service cable and raised the point of attachment. He did not need a new panel. We saved him 1/2 of a full service change by recommending he keep his current panel which was in good shape.

GENERATOR TRANSFER SWITCH

This customer wanted to backfeed a generator outlet into his existing panel because that's what his "Buddy" told him to do. His "Buddy" paid $450 to have tie a generator cord into his panel. That is ILLEGAL and could hurt or kill someone. Also is is HIGHLY unsafe. We installed a sub panel with a manual transfer switch. He was able to choose 10 circuits from his main panel that will be backed up with a generator, rather than 5 or 6 circuits using a "home depot" transfer switch. We custom make them to what you need. The switch on the right is in the up position for normal power. When your power goes out, pull the switch down and start up your generator - simple as that! Easy, safe and better than the home depot, handy man way!
